Trauma-informed money training for UK financial advisers

Procovo trains financial professionals to work with the emotional and traumatic side of money. The courses are online, self-paced and written for practitioners who sit with clients through debt, bereavement, divorce, redundancy and financial abuse — the situations where advice alone does not land.

What UK advisers get from it

  • Recognise nervous-system responses in a client meeting and adjust your pace accordingly
  • Meet FCA Consumer Duty expectations on vulnerable customers with practical, human conversation skills
  • Work with financial shame, avoidance and disclosure without stepping outside your scope
  • Understand economic and financial abuse and how it shows up in joint finances
  • Language and scripts you can use in the next client review

Accreditation status in the UK and Ireland

We are direct about this. Procovo's adviser courses are accredited in Australia by the Financial Advice Association Australia (FAAA), and our US counselor course carries CE credit. We do not currently hold accreditation with a UK or Irish body such as the CII, the Personal Finance Society, CISI or LIA.

In practice, UK advisers complete 35 hours of CPD each year under the FCA's Training and Competence rules and are responsible for choosing learning that is relevant to their role. Structured learning delivered by an external provider, with clear learning outcomes and a certificate, is commonly recorded against that requirement — but the decision sits with your firm's T&C scheme or your professional body, not with us.

Who this is suitable for

Financial advisers, financial planners, paraplanners, debt advisers, money guidance workers, financial coaches and financial wellbeing practitioners working in the UK or Ireland. It is equally relevant to firms building their Consumer Duty approach to vulnerable customers.

It is not a clinical qualification. The training helps you notice and respond to trauma in the room; it does not qualify you to treat it. Where a client needs therapeutic support, the right move is a referral.

Where to start

Most UK practitioners begin with Trauma & Money Foundations, then choose a masterclass that matches the client work in front of them.

UK & Ireland frequently asked questions

Are Procovo courses accredited for UK financial adviser CPD?

Procovo's courses are formally accredited in Australia (FAAA) and, for the US counselor course, for CE credit. They are not currently accredited by a UK body such as the CII, PFS or CISI. Under the FCA's Training and Competence rules, UK advisers are responsible for selecting relevant learning and recording it, and structured, verifiable learning from an external provider can be recorded as part of your 35 hours where your firm or professional body agrees it is relevant. Check with your local association to apply accreditation, CPD or CE credits for any of the Procovo courses and trainings.

How do I evidence a Procovo course in my UK CPD record?

Every Procovo course issues a certificate of completion showing the course title, learning outcomes and hours. Attach that certificate to your CPD log alongside a short reflective note on how the learning applies to your client work. Your firm's T&C scheme or professional body decides whether it counts as structured or unstructured learning.

Is the content relevant if I practise in the UK or Ireland?

Yes. The material is about client psychology, financial behaviour and trauma-informed conversation skills, not product rules or tax law, so it transfers across jurisdictions. Examples use Australian context in places, but the frameworks, language and practice tools are jurisdiction-neutral.

Does this training qualify me to provide therapy or counselling?

No. Procovo courses teach financial professionals to recognise trauma responses and respond safely within their own scope. They are not a therapeutic qualification and do not authorise you to provide psychological treatment. Where a client needs clinical support, refer to a registered therapist.

Who in the UK is this suited to?

Chartered and non-chartered financial advisers, paraplanners, financial planners, financial coaches, debt advisers and money guidance practitioners who sit with clients through vulnerability, debt, bereavement, divorce, redundancy or financial abuse.
